My earliest memories were playing in my private sandbox, creating and dreaming for hours, the sun shining on my face. When forced inside my world was books and pencils and paint. I was only at ease in my imagination.
Once I grew up I played with words and ideas, (newspaper reporting, advertising) and stories (book publishing, professional theatre). But all of those words and pictures were controlled by other people. Since retiring, the stories and images I create are the ones I choose. My world is still one big sandbox—only the type of sand has changed. This site holds my musings and my doodling.
As much as I enjoy puttering about, life had another surprise for me. Thinking my days of toil and sweat were over, instead I find myself engaged in the most ambitious and important work of my career—writing a a book—a true crime account, 19 years in the making. The Body of Esther Combs is both dark and inspiring; in these pages the reader finds incredible courage birthed out of one of the most sinister conspiracies ever uncovered in the bucolic Appalachian community. It is my honor and privilege to present Elsa Garcia’s story. She is hands down-the bravest person I have ever known. Watch for a publication date.
